We like our apartment!

So we REALLY like the location of our apartment. We're just a mile from the main road that goes through town and so we are really close to everything, but being that mile off of the main road makes us feel far from downtown. We get an even more secluded feeling because there are cornfields to the south of our apartments, to the north and east is the Clover Groff Natural Area (natural field and trees) and to the west is a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. We have been settling back into our morning routine, part of that is going on a walk (use to be running, but with my current condition, we just walk!). These are some pictures of the pond behind our apartment as the sun was rising while we were going out on one of our walks. There are a few ponds throughout our apartment complex.

The other thing we like about our location is that we are less than a mile from a public park that has 8-10 soccer fields (with goals, corner flags, and painted lines)!! As we were going on our morning walk we stood at the edge of the apartment property and kitty corner from us across the "natural" field we could see what looked to us like green fields of Frank's park (where the soccer fields are). So we decided to explore.

We tromped through the field and when we got across, it wasn't Frank's Park on the other side, instead on the other side was this:

It was a lake! (well at least, that is what they called it. Being from Moses Lake, it sort of just looked like a really big pond to me) Along the treeline is a stream, and other than that it is surrounded by the backside of a whole bunch of houses. We couldn't figure out how anyone is supposed to get back here. We also figured out that it's not a private lake because there were signs with the rules of the lake "per city ordinance". We followed the stream, there were some little paths along the way and another pond farther back. We could see Frank's Park just on the other side of the stream, but we couldn't find a way to get across. Here is a picture of the stream and if you look closely at the second one, you can see the soccer goals.

So then we went home. The next day we walked the long way to Frank's Park. I still couldn't see a bridge, so Jordon ran along this side of the stream and I started walking back. Lo and behold, there is a bridge! To get to it we just have to walk (and in the future run) through the residential neighborhood right next to us. So we tried out that route the next day. It was fun, it must have been right before the elementary school started because going the opposite direction of us was what we called, "the parade of mini-vans"- they seemed to endlessly be streaming down the roads. On this side of the park there are swings and big toys, a pretty pond, and soccer fields. This route is safer than the other one because there are sidewalks, so we will be able to take the jogging stroller. We are really excited by all of these discoveries. We can't wait to take our son to the park!
