I can't believe William is eleven months old!

Dear William,
You are 11 months old!! We can't believe that in one month you will be 1 year old already. Yikes! Where did the time go? Weren't you only 7lbs once? Weren't you immobile? Didn't you used to wake up every two hours (wait, maybe we shouldn't bring that up :)?

Well, you certainly are on your way to being a toddler. As posted here . . . you walk! And after a month of practicing that fine art, you are rather independent. When you started walking, you would throw your hands up high and come running! As of this last week, you no longer need to throw those arms so high!

Ever since you started standing at 7 months, you love to carry your toys with you wherever you go. That hasn't changed a bit. Now though, since you don't need one hand on the wall or couch, you carry one toy in each hand!

William, you kick your legs when you are happy. We got an activity table from a garage sale and you love to crawl under it and play with some toys there while laying on your stomach. We know you like it because once you get settled on your tummy, you kick those little legs of yours to our delight.

Towards the end of your meal you often get a little fussy to let us know that you are ready to get down. Once we realize that, you calm down and we come move your tray and take you out of your straps. The thing we get a kick out of though, is that as soon as we move your tray, you hurriedly, almost in a panic, grab some leftovers on the tray as if you just have to get a few more bites in because we're taking you out against your will. It is too cute.

You love to read! It is not uncommon for you to settle down with your books and "read" to yourself. In fact, it is the only time you are in the same position for more than, oh-umm, 3 seconds.

This video is from a while back, but it gives a good idea of how you read! Although, you've now graduated to chapter books already. You love holding them and fanning the pages between your two little thumbs. It does mom's teaching heart good to see you so! Our favorite part in the video is after Mom asks you to read some more- you heave a big old sigh before continuing. Too cute!

You bite!! And mostly, you bite Mom! Your favorite place to bite her is her knees or forearm. She always has to keep a wary eye out when either is exposed.

You're teething again! At the beginning of August, your top teeth broke through and they have slowly been making their way out!

You like to "push mom over" so you can wrestle. If she is kneeling or sitting on the floor you will come right up to her, already giggling with thoughts of what you are going to do, place your hands on her shoulders and push! with your feet until Mom "falls over". Then giggling you crawl over and under me, whichever way you please! Mercy!

We got a zoo pass and you love the zoo. Your favorite part is the aquarium. You get so excited. You talk to the fish and crawl/walk along the glass. You just can't get enough of it!

William, you have re-entered a phase where you do not like to have your diaper changed! For awhile, the only way we could get you to lay still on your back long enough for us to change you was if we gave you a book. That wore off after a few weeks- and now it is just a battle every time we need to change your diaper. You twist and turn, arch your back, kick your legs . . . you name it- you do it. You cry, we plead . . . we think we'd all have a better time of it if you would HOLD STILL for a minute!! :) Just one minute, instead of 10 batttling it out. We think you'd like it. We really do.

You are still a great eater! And although you are not a picky eater in general, you are picky about order. You will eat everything, but if something you prefer is offered at the same time as something not so preferred, you will pick out the non-preferred items and throw them on the ground and commence to eat what you do prefer. So, for example, if we are going to give you cheese as part of a meal, you don't get to see it or eat until the very end of the meal. This way, you eat everything else without throwing it off (although, you will throw it off when you are done with it/full).

You are having a hard time with dad starting school. You do okay if you are asleep when Dad leaves, but if you are awake and watch him go . . . it is so bitter sweet! You cry at the door. You shake off Mom's hand and attempts to distract you with toys and playing together. You reach on your tiptoes, arms outstretched to reach the door knob .. . . to no avail. Eventually, you'll let her pick you up, but not until after you've had your cry.

When Dad gets home you walk/run/trip to him with outstretched arms- it doesn't matter what you and Mom were doing. It fills Mom's heart to bursting.

You are still a happy, happy boy.

William, we adore you, love you, couldn't picture life without you!

Love,
Mom and Dad
